MEET Lucky Mngcina, a biker from Sebokeng who has travelled all over Mzansi but doesn’t have even a single fine!
Q: When did you start riding?
A: In 2005.
Q: Do you have a rider’s licence?
A: Yes, I got it back in 2010. Before then I used my learner’s licence.
Q: What is your current Bike?
A: Honda 1200 VFR automatic DSG. She’s my new baby – I’ve had her for a week now. My first was a GXSR 1100 and then an SV 1000. They are all powerful bikes.
Q: How did you learn to ride?
A: I started as a cyclist but my love for bikes developed because of my friends who ride with the Tigers MCCduring the late Mr Mzaifani.
Q: Does she have a nickname?
A: Yes, I call her Liefie.
Q: How often do you ride?
A: Especially on weekends but whenever I am free.
Q: How far have you ridden?
A: I attend events organised by bikers across Mzansi so I have been as far as Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the Free State and Durban.
I most recently travelled to Botswana with her.
Q: Do you have any traffic fines?
A: I am so vigilant and extra careful to obey all the traffic rules that I don’t have any tickets.
Q: Why did you choose Liefie in these colours?
A: The burgundy, silver and black colour scheme makes her look beautiful!
Q: Tell us about your outfit?
A: I know how important it is to be safe all the time I ride. This is why I always wear my full, flip-visor helmet, a jacket and gloves.
Q: Have you customised her?
A: No, she is as she was when I bought her from the shop.
Q: What do you think of other Mzansi road users?
A: I think we can be better drivers but only as long as we respect the rules of the road. Unfortunately it seems most motorists do not obey the road rules, which is why we end up with so many terrible and deadly accidents every day.
