THE SA documentary about the Marikana massacre has added yet another award to its packed trophy cupboard!
Last night in New York, Miners Shot Down won the prestigious International Emmy award for best documentary.
It was announced at a gala dinner of 1 000 international TV pros.
This is Number 14 of the awards it has gathered since 2014.
The film was directed by Rehad Desai and written by Anita Khanna.
It presents the drama and the horror of the seven days following 16 August 2012, where 44 people – 34 of them miners – were killed.
It is very critical of how cops and big business treated the striking miners.
