FAMILY and friends were relieved when maskandi singer Mroza Fakude was found on Friday after being missing for two days.
However, their relief soon turned to deep confusion.
According to sources close to the Sobulala uVan Damme hitmaker, the experience allegedly left him mentally disturbed and unable to talk!
His uncle, Moso Fakude, told Daily Sun: “Mroza left his home in Mkhuze, KZN on Tuesday to go to Joburg to record his new album.
“On Wednesday, he disappeared early in the morning. He left the doors and gate open at the place he was staying with his girlfriend.
“Before he disappeared, he sent me an SMS telling me some people in the music industry wanted to kill him because of jealousy.
“When I called him back, his phone was answered but no one spoke. The line then went dead and when I called back, the phone was off.”
Moso said he also received a phone call from Mroza’s girlfriend to say he had disappeared.
“She said he had been complaining that people wanted to kill him for his talent. We searched for him and reported him missing to the police.
“On Friday, his car was found parked in Randfontein.
“The Randfontein police later phoned to say he had been found by security guards at a house in town.”
When Mroza was found, his phone, shoes, car keys and money were gone.
Moso said the family was told Mroza had been beaten by nyaope boys but the details were sketchy as he couldn’t really talk.
“We have taken him to an inyanga for treatment. He is still there as he is unable to talk.”
The SunTeam also spoke to Mroza’s older brother, Mgogi, who said the family believed his brother had been bewitched.
“He told us he sees things.
“He thinks there are people following him who want to kill him,” said Mgogi, from his house in Zola, Soweto.
Soweto West police spokesman Sergeant Vincent Mashiteng confirmed that the maskandi artist had gone missing and said a case was opened.
He said he was found two days later in Randfontein.
Sangoma Jabulani Mthimkhulu said sometimes jealous people sent evil spirits to make their rivals go mad.
The SunTeam contacted Sikhulile Nzuza, the manager of Mroza’s label, Mabala Noise.
He said he was in contact with the family but couldn’t comment to the media saying it was a family matter.
Mroza was the first maskandi musician to win the Song of the Year award for the year 2016/2017.
