Further details of the close relationship between the Gupta’s and the Zuma’s came to light yesterday, on the same day the EFF caused chaos in Parliament chanting “Zupta’s must fall”.

President Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane, owns part of a company that’s buying Glencore's Optimum Coal mine along with the Gupta family.

Rumours that the deal was sweetened thanks to the help of Mines Minister Mosebenzi Zwane have been denied.

Besides this deal, Duduzane and Gupta family members are directors of at least 11 of the same companies.

Other members of President Zuma’s family are also involved with Gupta companies. One employed his daughter and another employed one of his wives.

DA’s James Lorimer said about the new mine deal: “The only way the government can now ensure the country that this deal was above board is to show all details of it.”

“It is highly problematic that not only has the current mining minister extensive connections with the Gupta family, but that the President’s son is also involved.”

Calls and emails to Oakbay weren’t responded to outside of normal office hours. Oakbay’s office also takes inquiries for Duduzane Zuma.

Glencore declined to comment.
