Tems went viral after wearing a statement dress at the Academy Awards in March 2023, which obscured the view of a guest seated behind her but that look landed her in the best dressed lists across the world.
She told PEOPLE that since it was her first Oscars, she had to go all out. "I really wanted to make the most of the day. The dress is also my way of celebrating my work and the people around me, celebrating my country, and celebrating the people that are rooting for me. This dress says, 'Yes, yes, I am here!'."
