  • Nobantu Vilakazi shares her experience of being a mother and a full-time artist.
  • Her son is one of her inspirations and the reason why she strives for the best.
  • She sometimes brings her son to gigs so he can see the kind of work she does.

She made quite an impression with her vocal on Musa Key's track Vula Mlomo where she's featured alongside Sir Trill.

Nobantu Vilakazi also has other amapiano music that keeps fans going. The singer's commitment to the genre finds her starring in reality show Impilo Ye Piano.

When she's not working in the music industry, Nobantu spends her time being a doting mother who never wants to miss any of her child's milestones. Unfortunately, superstar moms like her cannot spend much time with their children as they would like because of the demands of their careers.

A career in the entertainment industry requires sleepless nights, hours on the road and time away from home, especially if you are an amapiano vocalist and DJ.

From studio sessions to gig after gig, it can get quite challenging to balance the craft and take care of your little one. However, it seems like Nobantu manages it quite well.

"Yes I do spend quality time with him, mostly on weekends," she says as she explains how she ensures that she creates memorable moments with her son, Bandile, no matter how busy she gets.

She highlighted that he is well taken care of by her younger sister when she is out working late at night and that he is fully aware of demanding job.

"I made my son aware and understand from a young age that mommy is a superstar and my relationship with him is more important than any other thing. But in order to survive, my other main focus must be the career I chose.

"I try by all means to never make him feel neglected. If I have mid-day gigs, I go with him so he sees what mom does apart from being his super mom," Nobantu says.

Her son seems to be one of her inspirations and one of the reasons why she works hard. "Also, my son, Bandile, was one of the reasons why I didn't want to give up because I want to be a success story for him to refer to one day," she stated in a Sowetan article.

Nobantu is not shy to display her affaction for her son publicly. Her social media platforms are filled with their images together or individual images of Bandile.
