Amo Chidi has been sharing moments of marriage bliss and expanding her family with fans

She tied the knot on 14 December 2021 and is now a mother of two. The actress announced on Mother's Day via Instagram that she was pregnant with her second child in a post showing her and her husband cradling her belly.

Popularly known for her role as Reneilwe on the canned soapie Rhythm City, she speaks to TRUELOVE about what she's been getting up to.

Here is what we learnt about the TV star:

Life after Rhythm City has been a beautiful journey of self-discovery. I definitely have more time now. After being on the show for almost a decade, I’ve been taking this time to slow down and reflect. I’ve also been using it to do the things that I’ve always wanted to do but had to put on hold because I didn't have the time. I also have more time to spend with my family than I did before.

When I first joined the e.tv soapie in 2012, I didn’t think that I would stay on for eight years. It did not even feel like it had been that long because the years went by quickly. Time really passes by quickly when you’re doing what you love, and something you’re passionate about. I believe the saying that “time really does fly when you’re having fun!”

I played the character of Reneilwe and we are completely different and worlds apart [chuckles]. I enjoyed portraying her character because it allowed me to explore, and that was exciting. Bringing her to life was an exciting challenge; my life is not nearly as adventurous. We’ve seen very different sides to her over the years and every one of them had a unique story to tell and I loved being a part of that. The parts of her that I could relate to were her drive and passion.

I will always cherish the moment I held my daughter in my hands for the first time. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I just couldn’t wait to finally meet and hold her for the first time. It’s amazing how you can love someone so much even before you meet them.

Cartoon character you’d love to be…
Timon from The Lion King.

What’s your hidden talent?
I’m really good at baking – and I love it!

The title of your favourite song and lyric…
Said I loved You...But I Lied by Michael Bolton.

Dream destination…

Which generation do you think best suits your personality?
I’m proud to be a 90s baby! All my favourite songs were released in the 90s, and only now they make sense!

My favourite thing about motherhood is love. It is the incredible ability to love someone so much and unconditionally and receive in return, effortlessly – I don’t have enough words to describe this feeling or a mother’s love. It is the deepest, strongest kind of love I have ever experienced.

Some of my best character traits include my positive outlook on life. Regardless of the circumstances, I always look for things to be grateful for; I always find something to smile about. I believe that God has blessed me with a cheerful spirit, and it is my best character trait. Positive energy rubs off on other people around you too. Additionally, you can never know what the next person has on their plate. Spreading positivity is very important because there is so much to be grateful for, and you might just make someone’s day better.

If I had the chance to live the rest of my life on a movie set, it would have to be the Sound of MusicI have always wanted lots of children plus a house filled with singing. I love that the main character, Maria, is so resilient and most importantly, a woman of prayer. I admired her so much when I was still growing up, and to top it off, she could make clothes from curtains!

I wouldn’t know if people had any misconceptions about me. The one thing that’s impossible to do is to know what people think about you, or even try to control it–no one would be able to keep up. I can’t say how I would react to those misconceptions if I knew about them because I think it would depend on what they are. But, if there are any, I hope it’s nothing bad.

The most adventurous thing I have ever done was going bungee jumping at the Soweto Towers. It was extremely scary. I have a slight fear of heights, but after I finally went through with the bungee jumping, I was left liberated – like I had overcome something big in my life. It’s almost like a rush of adrenaline leaves you feeling like you can take on the world. I can’t even go on rides at Gold Reef City because I’m such a scary cat, but somehow, I did the jumping and it felt amazing!

On the career front, I have been more focused on my online content because it allows me to work from home. We Are living in very critical times right now, and we have to do the best we can to stay and keep our loved ones safe. I am, however, looking forward to extending my craft to other shows, and finally exploring new characters. I’m also looking forward to growing as an actress and artist in the entertainment industry.
