Richards Bay continue their hunt for a new head coach to take over from departed mentor Kaitano Tembo who the club parted ways with on Christmas day recently.

Siya sources have indicated that the KwaZulu-Natal club may be interested in former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane and Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Callisto Pasuwa.

Zwane was relieved of his duties as Amakhosi head coach at the end of last season, became their assistant coach earlier in this campaign and is now currently working as Chiefs' development coach.

Soccer Laduma has also exclusively reported how Pasuwa has been linked to both Chiefs and Richards Bay.

Pasuwa is a Zimbabwean coach working in Malawi and one can read about his amazing success with Big Bullets in our Soccer Laduma feature.

Siya insiders privy to information have now added that the other target, Zwane won't be immediately available to join another club due to the nature of his contract at Naturena.

The source noted that if Richards Bay are serious about signing him then they will need to buy him out of his contract.

"There was another team that was also interested in (Arthur Zwane) before Richards Bay but because of the contract issues they could not get him. The only way coach Arthur can leave and join another team is if that team can buy him out of the contract," said the Siya source.

"Remember he signed a first team contract and there are financial implications involved like signing on fees and other benefits so it's not easy to just leave," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second Siya source states that the situation Zwane is in is similar to the situation coach Steve Komphela was in when he was at Maritzburg United when Chiefs wanted him back then.

"It's more or less the same situation which Steve Komphela found himself in at Maritzburg United where Chiefs had to buy him out of his contract though other people say Steve bought himself out. But the point is Arthur cannot leave unless Chiefs fire him.

"But you have seen they have just redeployed him to the development (team) because of the contract. They can't just fire him. And that's why it's hard to join another team," the source observed.

When contacted for comment Richards Bay chairman Sifiso "Jomo" Biyela could neither deny nor confirm the interest in Zwane.

"We are right with Kanu (Vusumuzi Vilakazi). Kanu will be our coach until the end of the season. We have our coach and we are not looking at the moment," Biyela commented.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while this story was prepared.
