An Egyptian Football Association (EFA) chief has revealed that Egypt's new coach has struggled to make contact with Mohamed Salah amid rumours the Liverpool superstar is upset with comments the tactician has made.

According to the EFA's Ehab El-Komy, new manager Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim Hassan have not yet been able to speak to the 31-year-old ahead of the country's fixtures later this month.

Speaking on the matter, El-Komy insisted there has been no fallout between the pair, despite some things Hossam Hassan said during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations regarding the Reds talisman.

"The Egyptian national team, led by Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, can't communicate with Mohamed Salah so far," he stated, according to KingFut.

"So far, there hasn't been any meeting between Hossam Hassan and Mohamed Salah, but there is no dispute between the two parties.

"The Minister of Sports will hold a session between the two parties to create a conducive atmosphere within the team.

"The relationship between the Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi and Mohamed Salah is excellent. There is an agreement between the EFA and him to work on resolving any issues related to the national team."

After Salah's call to return to England during the recent AFCON due to a hamstring injury, Hassan criticised the winger and suggested he should stay at Liverpool even if the Pharaohs progressed to the competition's latter stages.

After Rui Vitoria's sacking following the tournament, Hassan was then appointed as Egypt's new coach, immediately raising questions about Salah's future on the international stage.

Former Egypt international Ahmed Shobeir, meanwhile, believes Salah would ideally like to remain in England ahead of his nation's Winsunited Cup fixtures this month, and that he was "sensitive" to the comments Hossam made about him in January.
