PMSS festival at Curro

A football festival at the Curro Meridian Cosmo City concluded over the weekend, with ex-Sundowns boss Mosimane officially launching the PMSS.

The festival, which began on Friday, 9 June, not only marked the end of the school's football season but also celebrated the successful collaboration between Curro and the PMSS.

The week-long tournament kicked off with primary school learners from Tirisano Primary, Cosmo City Junior, and Curro Academy Savanna City taking part in a series matches early last week.

It was then the turn of the high school learners from Curro Academy Savanna City, Blue Eagle Secondary, and Cosmo City Secondary, who followed with some exciting games later on in the week.

Mosimane was actively involved with the primary school learners and also joined the finals on Saturday, where he handed out medals to all the winners.

The two-time CAF Champions League-winning coach also addressed the attendees, congratulating all the learners on their hard work and dedication during the season so far.

Curro's partnership with the PMSS

The partnership between Curro and PMSS aims to integrate Mosimane's programme into the daily school curriculum. The programme seeks to develop talented footballers by providing learners with access to the expertise, guidance, and training philosophy of one of South Africa's most successful coaches.

There's been pleny of growth and appeal in the PMSS programme, that's currently in its pilot phase at two Curro schools.

The sports festival not only showcased the skills of the teams but also demonstrated the positive impact of the programme on learner development.

Maud Langa, Executive Head of Curro Cosmo City Meridian, expressed her enthusiasm for the PMSS partnership, recognising the value of the beautiful game as a tool for learner development.

"The success of the sports festival at the school stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work displayed by both the learners and coaches involved in the PMSS programme," says Langa.

"We wholeheartedly believe in the transformative power of sports, especially soccer, as a tool for personal and educational development. We commend the partnership between Curro and the PMSS programme. The programme has aligned itself well with our commitment to providing learners with the highest quality educational services and facilities," she adds.

The PMSS partnership has led to extraordinary opportunities for the school, including coaching clinics conducted by English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.

Selected players have earned the chance to attend the club's prestigious training camp in the UK in 2024. The programme has also resulted in significant improvements to the school's facilities, with the installation of catch nets and the completion of artificial turf, elevating the standards of their football programme.
