In a rather unexpected interview of a player interviewing their teammate, Bafana Bafana defender Kekana comfortably opened up to Mokoena for a Nounouche Magazine feature.

Kekana follows in the footsteps of his coach Rulani Mokwena as a Magazine cover star with Nounouche for their "Kings & Queens of Sport" Youth month issue.

Among a host of other topics, Kekana spoke to Mokoena about his family life. He opened up about the healthy relationship with his family and his role as a father.

"They have always wanted me to be happy and to succeed. They have always supported me in everything I wanted to do. I am here today because of them, I am the man I am because of them," says Kekana to Mokoena for Nounouche.

He went on to describe his relationship with his sister as a blessing and revealed the important role as both a big brother and father figure he plays in her life.

"I am the type of person who always wants the best for the next person. It has been a bit tricky because of the distance – she is in the Western Cape and I am in Gauteng – but we always stay in touch and make time for each other," he says.

Kekana's most important role is that of being a father to his six-year-old son Tsitsi, who he had during his time at Matsatsantsa.

"When he was about to be born it was a time where I was nearing the end of my contract at Supersport United and I was also injured at the time. His arrival came with my healing from injury and I started playing again and I got another contract.

"He has definitely made me see life from a different perspective and taught me responsibility, patience and to always just be there. I grew up without a proper father figure so I want to be there for him all the time and do better than what I received," adds Kekana.

Kekana also told Mokoena that If he was not a football player, he would be involved in either music or politics, with the latter option not coming as a surprise with his mother, Pinky Kekana being the Deputy Minister in Presidency and a ANC Women's League NEC member.
