English Premier League outfit Bournemouth announced on Tuesday that departing owner Maxim Demin has sold his stake in the club to a company called Black Knight Football Club, Cannae Holdings Inc and other investors who will hold a minority stake.

Foley is the managing general partner at Black Knights Football Club and the chairman of Cannae Holdings.

As per Sky Sports, the minority ownership group will be led by "Creed" actor, director and producer Michael B Jordan and Nullah Sarker.

Jordan and Sarker will work closely with new club chairman and majority owner, Foley in areas including global marketing and "internationalisation" of the club.

Cannae Holdings announced in their statement that the Las Vegas-based firm paid $126 million (R2.1 billion) for a 50.1% stake in the partnership.

In terms of Hollywood's recent influence on English football, Jordan follows in the footsteps of actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham Association Football Club, who are in the lower leagues of English football.

They've elevated the Welsh-based club's status with a solid social media presence on TikTok and a smash-hit TV show, "Welcome To Wrexham" that can be streamed on DisneyPlus.

Jordan will hope to make a similar impact at a bigger club, that's currently in 14th place in the EPL. Jordan and Foley's investment in the Cherries sees them become the eight US owners in the English top flight.
