Kasi women drink mabhebeza water believing it will attract and keep men in their lives.
An over-the-counter pregnancy test confirming that Mbali is expecting a baby.

MBALI Masoka fears she may be carrying mabhebeza in her womb although tests have found she’s pregnant.

Mbali of Tshepisong, west of Joburg, told Daily Sun she drank mabhebeza last June for the first time.

“I drank mabhebeza because I couldn’t keep a man for long and I was told it makes men want you,” she said.

But the love potion didn’t help.

“I stopped drinking it in October as nothing changed,” she said.

“It didn’t make my man want me more.”

Mbali’s uncle Hlubi Mkwanazi said: “They say mabhebeza makes men surrender their salaries.”

Hlubi found the mabhebeza in Mbali’s shack on Monday while looking for steel wool.

“My niece was out and I went in her shack behind the house to look for pots to cook,” said Hlubi.

The pots were dirty so he looked around her kitchen for steel wool.

In the fridge he found a scary thing in a bucket and turned to Facebook friends for help.

“I posted a picture of it online and asked people what it was. That’s when I found out that it was mabhebeza.”

Mbali hopes SunReaders can help her get the mabhebeza out of her life.

“I just want to be free from this mabhebeza once and for all,” she sighed.
