THREE people were electrocuted to death in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape due to izinyoka last weekend.

The families are still reeling in shock after Khanya Nikani (24) of Rabie Village in Wells Estate and Bongani Nombewu (26) of Greenbushes were killed by izinyoka on Saturday, 20 April.

Another 18-year-old girl was electrocuted when she stepped on an illegal connection while walking with friends in an open space in Booysens Park on Sunday, 21 April.

Khanya's aunt, Amanda Nikani, said: "The 24-year-old was with our brothers when she accidentally touched an illegal connection while crouching to urinate and died from being electrocuted.

"She was found by our neighbours lying on the ground unconscious, with some of her fingers missing, and her face had a huge scar.

She was rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle but was declared dead on arrival."

Bongani met his ultimate death when he was fixing the electricity connection to his flatlet from the main house.
