HE DIDN’T have money to go
to work, so he asked a tavern owner to give him taxi fare.

But when tavern owner Life Mokalane (46) told him he didn’t have the R20, the angry man apparently took out a gun and shot his seven-year-old son Tshwanelo in the chest.

“I thought the man was joking when he took out the gun,” said Life from Slovo Park in Springs, Ekurhuleni, on Monday.

“When he fired a shot, I realised he meant business.

“The bullet hit my son in the chest and he fell to the ground.

“I got into a car and rushed him to hospital.

“But he was declared dead on arrival.

“I held him in my arms, calling out his name, but he was not responding.

“How can someone kill a child over R20? I don’t even know him.

“He said I was lying when I said I didn’t have money as I had takings from the weekend.”

Life said the man spoke with
an accent.

“I’m heartbroken that I had to lose my son this way.

“I hope the man will be arrested and rot in jail.”

Life said his wife was struggling to cope with the death of their son.

Captain Johannes Ramphora of Springs police told Daily Sun that a murder case has been opened and they were looking for the suspect.

Anyone who has information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect is asked to contact 08600 10111.
