Jose Mourinho has reportedly reached an agreement with a surprise club days after parting ways with AS Roma.

The Portuguese tactician is on the market and could be on the verge of walking into his next managerial challenge, as he has verbally agreed to take the helm of Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab, according to the Mirror.

The former Real Madrid boss was relieved of his duties by the Giallorossi earlier this week after the club suffered a 3-1 defeat to Italian rivals AC Milan over the past weekend.

At the time of his exit, the Serie A side were in eighth place on the table having picked up eight victories and amassing just 29 points in 20 matches.

Mourinho is said to have revealed in October that he turned down "the biggest and craziest offer a coach has ever received in the history of football" from Saudi club Al Hilal, and opted to see out his contract with the Italian side.

The offer he received was reportedly worth a whopping amount of £500 000 (R12 million) a week.

Now, however, an opportunity to take on a job in Saudi seems to be back on the table as it is believed that Al Shabab sporting director Domenico Tite held a Zoom meeting with Mourinho on Thursday, in which he is said to have agreed to become the club's new manager.

It is also claimed that the Portuguese coach is expected to arrive in the country in the next few days should the deal be finalised.

The side have been without a manager since sacking Igor Biscan last month and find themselves in 11th place on the table despite boasting star players that include former LALIGA stars Ever Banega and Yannick Carrasco.
