Tunisia manager Jalel Kadri will reportedly lose his job should he not make it out of the group stage at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana Bafana rivals at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations are reportedly on the verge of sacking their manager.

Tunisia manager Jalel Kadri is said to have sparked the anger of the Tunisian Football Federation hierarchy after slumping to a 1-0 defeat against Namibia.

Orlando Pirates star Deon Hotto scored an 88th minute goal that enlivened his nation while simultaneously putting the world of pressure on Kadri's shoulders heading into his side's next encounter against Mali on Saturday, 20 January.

According to El Fagr, Tunisian football officials have given the national team's one last chance. It is said that the only way the 52-year-old will be able to retain his job beyond AFCON is by leading the Carthage Eagles out of the group stage and into the knockout round of the tournament.

Following their shock defeat to the Brave Warriors, the manager acknowledged the need to obtain positive results in their upcoming fixtures.

“There are two matches remaining, and our reaction must be positive, and God willing, we can get out of this situation we have put ourselves in,” he said per CAF.

However, in order to improve their chances of advancing, Kadri's side will have to overcome a formidable Mali side who sit at the top of Group E after picking up a comprehensive 2-0 victory over South Africa.

Speaking after the match, the Eagles coach Eric Chelle emphasised the importance of his side maintaining their focus as well as hard work.

“I would not say we are favourites to win the group just yet. Yes, we got the victory but a lot can still happen. We still have matches to play and so we have to keep working hard,” Chelle said.
