A former Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper has signed for English League One side Bristol Rovers after his contract at Reading expired.

Anssi Jaakkola, now 32, became a star performer during a three-year spell with the Urban Warriors after signing for the club in 2013 before moving to Championship side Reading in 2016.

"Anssi is a player that comes highly recommended to us and we are excited to have him at the club," Rovers manager Graham Coughlan told the club's official website.

"He's been playing at a higher level and has a wealth of experience under his belt, playing in a number of different leagues and I'm sure he will be a big benefit to us.

"The goalkeeping department now has a good degree of competition and it's our hope that the players will push each other to get the best out of one another.

"Anssi's signing marks another milestone in our preparations for next season and I'm glad that the deal has been concluded during the early stages of pre-season."
