Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang now appears to have hit out at Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, accusing the Spaniard of being unable to manage "big players".

The Gabonese centre-forward left the Gunners in acrimonious fashion in January this year after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Prior to his departure, the striker was stripped of the club captaincy due to a disciplinary breach, and he was subsequently frozen out of the team by Arteta.

Initially, it looked like he would be sent out on loan, but things changed as the January transfer window's deadline day neared, with it becoming clear he would depart on a permanent deal.

The player eventually took a pay cut to join FC Barcelona on a contract until June 2025, one that included an option to an agreed departure on 30 June 2023 if desired by either party.

It would take another deadline-day move in September for the French-born star to return to London, this time to join his former club's rivals Chelsea.

Now, in a video doing rounds on social media, Aubameyang can be heard criticising his former coach Arteta, saying, per sportBIBLE: "Big characters and big players... he can't deal with it.

"He needs some young players who don't say anything."

This is not the first time he has spoken of his discontent under Arteta, either.

Speaking about his Gunners exit when he arrived at Barca, the 33-year-old revealed he was not happy with the Spanish tactician at the Emirates.

"My last few months at Arsenal were complicated, that's football sometimes," Aubameyang said at the time.

"For my part, I never wanted to do anything wrong. My problem was only with Arteta. I can't say much more, I wasn't happy.

"They were complicated months and I think that this is football sometimes. If I have to say something on this subject, I say that I have never wanted to do something wrong."

Arteta and the Gunners, meanwhile, have started the 2022/23 campaign in impressive fashion, with the London club top of the Premier League table with eight wins from nine matches.
