A staggering 15 African players and coaches have been suspended by their national football federation after they were found to have been involved in a match-fixing scandal.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed the suspension of 15 people – two managers and 13 players – in the country's top three domestic divisions.

The organisation revealed they had received documentation accusing the collective of fixing matches, with clubs such as Zoo FC and Kenyan Premier League log leaders Tusker FC heavily implicated in the case.

"Football Kenya Federation has received confidential reports alleging the involvement of various players and officials in match-fixing activities," the FKF said in a statement posted on its official website.

"In an effort to protect the integrity of the league, in line with the Federation's zero-tolerance policy on match-fixing, the Federation has with immediate effect provisionally suspended the following individuals pending the investigations of the matter by the FIFA & FKF's integrity department."

The body has advised all its members to avoid any form of sporting contact with the individuals implicated in the probe while the suspension is in effect.

Here are the 15 implicated individuals in the match-fixing scandal:

A similar scandal rocked the country in 2020, when FIFA banned four Kenyan players in February that year over an international conspiracy to fix league games.

One player was banned for life during the saga, while five referees were also later punished over the same scandal.
