An African star has reportedly been identified as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain.

With Kylian Mbappe strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain are now reportedly willing to table a mouthwatering offer for a certain 2023 Africa Cup of Nations star as the Frenchman's potential replacement.

PSG are thought to be sweating over the future of their all-time top goalscorer, who is down to the final five months of his contract and with there being little indication that he might extend his stay in Paris.

Last month, reports emerged suggesting that the French superstar had decided he will leave the Parc des Princes and that he has agreed to waiver a loyalty bonus, said to be worth €80 million (R1.6 billion), in a bid to ease an exit, according to Goal.

However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has consistently maintained since that nothing is yet final, with the club and the player said to be in constant communication.

Nevertheless, sporting advisor Luis Campos is now reportedly tasked with finding a potential replacement in the event Mbappe actually does leave at the end of the season.

Names such as Marcus Rashford of Manchester United have been mooted, while more recent reports have also linked the Ligue 1 champions with Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry.

According to La Repubblica, though, PSG are keen to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli as their next blockbuster acquisition.

The report claims that Les Parisiens are willing to splash €120 million (R2.4 billion) to sign the Nigerian, who helped steer his side to a silver medal at the recent 2023 AFCON.

It is further noted that AC Milan winger Rafael Leao is also being considered, although his €175 million (R3.5 billion) release clause could make matters tricky for Luis Enrique's side.
