The Senegalese referee who was pointed out as being at fault for playing a role in Bafana Bafana’s failure to qualify for the World Cup has been kept busy by FIFA without the whistle in his hand.
Maguette Ndiaye was blamed for Bafana Bafana’s defeat to Ghana which led to Hugo Broos’ men failing to reach the last qualifying hurdle which would have been a date with Nigeria.

Following Ndiaye’s biased officiating in that Bafana/Black Stars match in November last year, SAFA then lodged a complaint with FIFA accusing the Senegalese of match fixing.
However, SAFA’s cries were dismissed with Ghana proceeding to overcome Nigeria and qualify for the World Cup.
The Senegalese school teacher then proceeded to officiate at the AFCON earlier this year and kept his place amongst the six CAF referees for the World Cup.
In Qatar, he has only been a fourth official – duties which he has carried out in four games to date with Wednesday’s tie between Australia and Denmark his fifth in the same capacity.
All other make referees from CAF who include Victor Gomes, Janny Sikwaze, Bakary Papa Gassama, and Mustapha Ghorbal have already blown the whistle.
Though he has yet to run the rules from the middle, Ndiaye’s five group stages appointments mean he has banked USD 12 500 (approx. R213 000) at USD 2500 (approx. R42 000) per match.
As a centre referee he has already been signed off for the USD 70 000 (approx. R1,2 million) paid as basic salary to every centre referee at the World Cup.
Should he get the same fourth official appointments in the knockout stages he will pocket USD 5000 (approx. R84 000) per match.
Centre referees have been on USD 3000 (approx. R52 000) per match which will take a huge leap to USD10 000 (approx. R170 000) per match in the group stages.
