TS Galaxy registered a third successive victory in the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 win over SuperSport United, who are yet to win a league game this year.

Lyle Lakay, Bradley Grobler and Bafana Bafana international Siyanda Xulu started on the bench, with starlet Siviwe Magidigidi shown another start by United, whilst in-form Samir Nurkovic continued in the Rockets line-up.

Young Siviwe got a chance to break the deadlock from the head after a pin-point cross on five minutes, but he failed to capitalise and open his account.

Zimbabwean Terrence Dzvukamanja was next to have a go when he sent in a glancing header from a cross-field ball well beyond the opposing goal.

Galaxy did have the clearer threat though around the half-hour mark after Sphiwe Mahlangu dropped to the shoulder to collect Lehlohonolo Mojela’s pin-pint and fired off the side-netting.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Grant Margeman looked to make the opening past 38 minutes played, but went wide of the bottom-corner after a one-two with Dzvukamanja.

Galaxy regained the momentum and hit the front six minutes in the second half through Mpho Mvelase close-range finish from Mahlangu’s low cross.

Matsatsantsa pushed for a comeback shortly after going behind, but battled to penetrate the visitors and carve out clear-cut scoring chances too.

With Lakay and the returning Grobler introduced from the bench in place of Magidigidi and Shandre Campbell respectively, the Tshwane giants continued to sit on the back-foot.

The Rockets were quite calm and managed the game well, as the Matsatsantsa battled to keep calm all round and evidently succumbed to the Mpumalanga-based side.
