Sekhukhune United's five-game winning run came to an end after a 2-2 draw against Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership clash on Tuesday evening.

Sekhukhune were without Bafana Bafana midfielder Elias Mokwana due to suspension and his place was taken by Maloisane Mokhele.

City, meanwhile, dropped Bafana striker Khanyisa Mayo to the bench and recalled Thabiso Kutumela.

The got off to a quick start, as three minutes in Mokhele almost gave Babina Noko a perfect start with a strike in the box that was saved by goalkeeper Darren Keet.

The Citizens broke the deadlock with their first shot on target midway through the first stanza courtesy of a strike by Ahshene Jody Lee, who got his first professional goal, in the box that found the bottom corner.

Lehlohonolo Seema's charges had a response six minutes later after Linda Mntambo also fired a shot in the box into the bottom corner.

As the game opened up, Mntambo gave United the lead and completed his brace just before the interval with another shot in the box after a through ball by Vusimuzi Mncube from a quick counter-attack.

Eric Tinkler's men were fired up from the break as seven minutes later Darwin Gonzalez forced a save out of goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare with a shot in the box.

Tinkler eventually brought on Mayo on the hour-mark in place in place of Jody Lee and the change spurred them on, as on 65 minutes Heaven Sereets levelled matters with a curling strike into the top corner from out of the box and also got his first professional goal.

The game slowed down with 15 minutes to go and Sekhukhune required fresh legs in midfield as Pogiso Mahlangu replaced Kamohelo Mokotjo and Thamsanqa Masiya came on for Mncube.

City had the momentum in the dying minutes as they threatened to get the winner but the game ended all square. Babina Noko remained in third spot on the log while the Citizens moved up to fifth.
