A certain ‘Ama2000s’ star has shown maturity beyond his years both on and off the pitch. Here’s a look at Kaizer Chiefs youngster Sameko Zwane’s vintage-inspired lifestyle.

The story

Born in 2002, the full-back was one of Amakhosi’s breakout stars in 2023, as he was promoted to the first-team after impressing in the Multichoice Diski Challenge. He has quickly risen to fame, thanks to his silky technical ability, defensive aptitude, and versatility across a few positions.

One notable feature about the player’s lifestyle is his undeniable affection for vintage clothes and retro-inspired aesthetics. Time and time again, he is seen resembling the the life of a 90s and 80s music star, thanks to his love for baggy trousers, classic graphic t-shirts, and snap-back caps.

What also makes him stand out from most footballers in Mzansi is that he is one of the few players who seems true to their style. In fact, some might agree that his fashion sense can be linked to that of international football fashionistas like Moise Kean (Juventus)  and Rafael Leao (AC Milan).

One would imagine Zwane being one of the leading fashion stars in the country in the future, as the world of fashion and football is increasingly aligning. Some international labels are already exploiting this relationship, as the high brands like Gucci and Burberry have collaborated with names like Jack Grealish of Manchester City and Son Hueng-min of Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.

Meanwhile, streetwear giants like Jordan have also dropped various collections inspired by footballers, with Paris Saint-Germain susperstar Kylian Mbappe having worked on various collaborations with the company.

Zwane seems to have the world at his feet and it looks interesting what will become of him.
