There have many Argentina fans who decided to get tattoos of Lionel Messi following his 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph. Here are some of the most notable ones, including one on a supporter's forehead.

The story

While there are many ways of honouring someone, tattooing someone else on your body is perhaps one of the more dramatic or passionate ways of doing it.

It is thought that hundreds of people flocked to tattooists in Argentina in order to ink a tribute to the Albiceleste captain, as many are now convinced that he has cemented his name as the greatest footballer in the history of the sport.

One of the more outrageous scenerarios is a Colombian influencer called Mike Jambs, who decided to ink Messi's name across his forehead. His decision caused quite an undesired reaction, as he admitted that he has been persistently mocked for his face tattoos, including two on both sides of his cheeks.

"I regret having done the tattoo because instead of bringing me positive things, it's led to lots of negative things, both personally and for my family," he said according to the Daily Mail.

"'I didn't think I'd be saying this so soon and I felt very proud of what I'd done in the first few days, but I now wish I hadn't done it."

Unsurprisingly, other supporters opted for something less outlandish, with many getting artworks of the player holding the iconic trophy, or the trophy itself.

While Messi may still be enjoying his break, as he is only expected to return to his club Paris Saint-Germain in the first week of January 2022, the 35-year is now mourning the passing of Brazillian legend Pele - who died on Thursday after a battle with cancer.
