Spending a few hours in court for assault is not on brand for him.

The internet sensation Vusi Thembekwayo came all suited up, finishing the look with expensive shades when he arrived at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Friday for his assault case.

He came in early and sat at the benches while waiting for his name to be called, while the lady accompanying him was reading the book with the title “The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck”. Maintaining his popular status, he was delivered a coffee while he was sitting on the court benches.

His matter of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm was postponed to the second week of February for the presiding officer who handles the matter to be present.

Vusi is appearing in court for allegedly assaulting his wife Palesa Mahlolo Thembekwayo on 04 December 2021 at their home in Deinfern. It is alleged that his wife was sleeping when he came home and asked to talk to her. The presiding officer is currently on leave and will be back in February.

In a police statement seen by Drum, the wife stated that he asked for them to go out of the house, but the wife told him that she was not going anywhere.

“He has taken the black plastic bags and he put my clothes in them inside the boot of the car. He then took off the blankets from me while I was sleeping in the bed, and he pulled me off the bed. He pulled me out of the bed, off the bed. He holds me with my legs and drags me from the bedroom down the stairs. He slapped me several times on my face with his open hand, and then put me inside the car. He has again slapped me with his open hand. I have sustained injuries on my face and on my right hand,” reads the statement.

The wife stated that after the assault, her body started aching and she felt her mouth was a bit uncomfortable and noticed a reddish and purplish mark on her right bicep.

“The right-hand side of my face was swollen, I had a cut on my upper lip.”

Vusi is currently on bail, and his bail conditions remain till his next appearance.
