He had just been in business for over six months. His eatery was fast becoming a favourite in the area and he was enjoying the fruits of his labour. 

Then it all came apart. Jabu Maringa (39) watched as law enforcement officers tore his pavement restaurant Ringa Nathi down, breaking down the fencing and the seating and umbrellas. 

The Ekurhuleni Municipal Police Department (EMPD) officers confiscated everything on the pavement.
