They know what day zero is. They've had water problems for 10 years and counting. Kimberley residents say the only way around the problem has been to buy your own water.

They blame the Sol Plaatje Municipality in the Northern Cape for having old, unmaintained infrastructure.

Local resident Lerato Louw tells Drum she buys 40 litres of water every two weeks for her home of four adults.
