This year bought their first car, released their debut album, and are fully booked for the festive season.

While this year was a heavy and hectic one for a lot of people, that is not the case for Viggy and Virginia, better known as the Qwabe twins, who were showered with countless blessings this year.

“This December, we are fully booked for the whole month,” says the twins.

“Siizobe sijabulisa abantu [we will be making people happy].”

Drum caught up with the twins who tell us about their festive plans and what the New Year means to them

What are your plans for the festive season?

This December we have a lot of gigs, we can’t even count them. We are fully booked for the whole month.

What does the celebration of the New Year mean to you?

Viggy- It means ukuqala kwezinto ezintsha [start of new things].

If there were things you did do well this year, then you can fix them in the new year. Ngiye ngithi [I always say] for me, when a plan I had didn’t work out in that year we are in, I will try plan b and c the following year.

Virginia- The new year for me means impilo ngendlela oyenze ngayo [how you lived your life] in the past year, you can make it even better in the following year.

Mina ngikholelwa ukuthi wonke umuntu uma ezokwenza into [I believe that everyone before they do something], there need to have a plan on how there are going to do it.

You draw out a new plan for each year, place it in the bible, and pray upon it. Ask God to be with you in the new year and make all you dreams and plans for the next year come true.

Which food does the Qwabe family enjoy eating during the December holidays?

Briyani.

When we were kids, Briyani was the one meal that we use to make every Christmas and to this day, when we are having Briyani, we just know that the festive is here.

If you could visit anywhere in the world for the December holiday, where would they like to go?

Dubai.

That place is so beautiful. We would swim and basket in the sun the whole time.

Which artist, dead or alive would you invite to your New Years' dinner table?

It would be Brenda Fassie.

She is one artist we grew up listening to. As young as we were, we loved her music and we loved her.

Even now, if you were to walk into our bedroom, you will find posters of her. So, it would be an honour if we could invite her to our Christmas dinner.

Loyamama kuningi esikufundile kuyena [We learnt a lot from Brenda]. Sifunde ukuzithemba [We learned how to trust yourselves] and not being afraid of anything. She was a true hero.
