It’s been rumoured that local musician Sjava, real name Jabulani Hadebe, has been dropped by popular SABC1 soapie Uzalo. The musician is set to play a trigger-happy hitman connected to Nkuzi, and his return to acting was warmly welcomed by South Africans. He’ll make his debut appearance on 6 November.

But according to reports, the local musician’s character was dropped from the storyline because showrunners weren’t happy with his acting. Previous abuse allegations made against the musician were also said to have influenced the decision.

Last year Sjava found himself in a court battle with Lady Zamar over abuse allegations. The two dated secretively and only confirmed their relationship after they had broken up.

The local songstress opened a sexual assault and abuse case against Sjava last year, which led him to opening charges against her in return. The rapper has since denied all allegations brought against him by the songstress, stating that he never abused her.

We reached out to SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo, who confirmed Sjava’s departure from the show. "The SABC can confirm that Sjava was on a limited storyline on Uzalo, which will conclude naturally,” Mmoni said.

Viewers can thus expect to see the Umama hitmaker on their screens for a limited time only.
