The South African entertainment industry is mourning yet another young life.
This is after the family of The Estate, Soul City, Isithembiso and Ikhaya actor Siyanda Sesimane confirmed that he died, weeks after an attack in his home.
Siyanda’s family released a statement through his friend and co-actor Zola Hashatsi, stating that Siyanda had been recovering well after being attacked in his home, but after an operation, he suffered brain damage.
“Siyanda was attacked at his house on the 15 February 2022, and was admitted at Garden City Hospital with head injuries,” the statement reads.
“Doctors mentioned that he had a fracture on his skull and decided to take him to the theatre on Wednesday 16 February 2022. The operation went well and he was responding well from the coma, until the 21 February 2022, when he went into a cardiac arrest at about 17:30.”

In the early hours of Tuesday 22 February 2022, the doctors mentioned that he had a seizure.
“On the 24th he went for a scan to check what had caused the cardiac arrest. On the 26th of Feb, we had a meeting with his doctor who explained that Siyanda was brain dead at this stage and chances of survival were extremely low.”
The statement goes to say he put up a good fight before taking his last breath.
“Since then, he put on a good fight until the morning of the 11th March when we received a call from the hospital we received a call from the hospital requesting us to urgently come. Siyanda took his last breath at about 08:30. May his wonderful soul rest in peace.”
A candle-lighting ceremony was held at his home on 13 March 2022.
Further details of the memorial and funeral will be shared in time.
