MAJOR. is first in line to perform on a South African stage in February.

Many have still not gotten over the international acts that graced South African stages last year. The likes of Tems, Tamia, BoyzIIMen, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, H.E.R and Kendrick Lamar brought their magic to the country’s shores, pulling thousands of people to their concerts and music festivals.

Despite last minute cancellations of international acts such as Burna Boy and Rema, music lovers came out in their numbers.

It seems like there will be more reasons for them to continue coming out in their numbers as Joe Thomas, Jeffrey Osborne and MAJOR. are the first notable acts to set stages on fire on our shores this year.

Joe, the long-time hit maker will be in South Africa in April to perform at the Sun City Superbowl on Saturday 27 April, Cape Town at GrandWest Arena on Sunday 28 April and in Pretoria at SunBet Arena on Tuesday 30 April.

His catalogue is undoubtedly an impressive one boasting many people’s all-time favourites and classics such as ‘I Wanna Know’, ‘All That I Am’, ‘Good Girls’, ‘Don’t Wanna Be A Player’, ‘All The Things (Your Man Won’t Do)’, ‘Stutter’, More & More’, ‘If I Was Your Man’ and ‘Thank God I Found You’.

R&B die-hards are already looking forward to these shows presented by Vertex Events company which will also have local artists as opening acts to be announced soon.

“We are extremely proud to bring Joe back into the country. We are on a mission to make the shows a specially curated live moment. Production, live music and a gathering of R&B music lovers will be the main focus,” says Thato Segaole, Vertex Events’ executive director.

Joe’s shows will, however, follow those of Jeffrey Osborne, another internationally acclaimed R&B sensation.

The multi-award winning artist will commence his You Should Be Mine tour at the Cape Town Grand West Arena on 20 March and will move to the Pietermaritzburg athletic stadium on 24 March then to SunBet Arena Timesquare in Pretoria on 28 March. He will then close it off at Emperors palace in Johannesburg on 29 March.

Not only is Jeffrey a singer in his own right but he’s also a lyricist, a former drummer and lead singer of the American R&B, Soul group L.T.D with who he began his musical career.

After parting with the group after a decade and pursuing a solo career, he sold over 10 million copies of his albums worldwide and became the writer behind the late Whiney Houston’s hit ‘All At Once’.

His chart-topping songs include ‘You Should Be Mine’, ‘For The Family’, ‘On The Wings of Love’, ‘Love Ballad’, ‘Only Human’ and ‘Back in Love Again’.

Unlike Joe, Jeffrey will be coming to perform in South Africa for the first time in his career.

“I am so excited to be coming to South Africa for the first time. It has always been my wish to visit this country which has such a beautiful history and when the opportunity was presented, there was no way I was going to refuse. I am looking forward to meeting my fans from South Africa, see this beautiful country and what it has to offer. I want my fans to have the time of their lives, I promise them a good time,” says Heffrey.

For the Valentine’s weekend, MAJOR. will be serenading his fans at the Sun City Superbowl with the song that’s gone viral as a background song to romantic sceneries – ‘Why I love you’.

The Grammy-award winner will only have one show though on 16 February.

Tickets for all these international performances are already on sale.
