She had not turned 10 years old when she made her TV debut as Sabrina in a kiddies show called Pula and Friends.

At 11 years old, she graced the most loved youth program of all times – YoTv on SABC 1.

From there, she basically grew up in front of the country’s eyes as a child star.

Every morning on weekends or afternoons on weekdays belonged to her, Sade Gilberti, Sipho “Psyfo” Ngwenya, Musa Mthombeni, Selae Thobakgale and the late Akhumzi Jezile.

Hulisani Ravele was affectionately known as Cici at the time.

After almost nine years of working as a YoTv presenter as she started varsity, Hulisani went behind the scenes as a publicist and marketing assistant at the public broadcaster.

For some time, she was not seen on our TV screens.

In a couple of interviews, she has done, she has revealed that it was during this time that very few production companies wanted to touch her as she still had “the YoTv touch”.

When it all looked up for her again, she went into the other side of broadcasting which is radio.

The bubbly media personality moved from working on the Sunday night show on 5FM, to hosting SABC 1’s music talk show called Zaziwa, and being on the Capricorn FM airwaves. She also made an appearance on City Ses’La as Thandi.

For the past five years, the seasoned broadcaster had been in the host seat for 947’s Weekend Breakfast. Her fun and wit have carried her supporters who are no longer teenagers but mothers and great aunts at traditional ceremonies throughout this period.

The 34-year-old now takes a bow from it all.

In a statement released on Thursday, Hulisani thanks her supporters and the industry for carrying her on the 26-year-old journey.

“I am immensely grateful for the love and support I have received from my followers and the industry. Making it onto the 947 line-up has been an absolute dream come true. To anchor and deliver an entertaining and wholesome show to such a diverse and multicultural audience, and to play a part in the station surpassing the one million mark for P7D listenership, and being able to maintain that position are both remarkable achievements I hold dear.”

“This break is not just a pause, but an opportunity for me to delve into new experiences and discover what the future holds. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me,” she adds.

The broadcaster loved for her freckles will hang her headphones ahead of her “well-deserved sabbatical” for the last time on 30 September.
