The man known as The Yeezy Mafia has been listed number two on the Forbes 100 highest-paid celebrities list after Kylie Jenner, making him the highest paid male celebrity in the world.

Kanye West, who claims to have a net worth of more than $3 billion (about R50 billion) and to be worth more than the president of the United States of America (USA) Donald Trump, was crowned as a billionaire by Forbes in April and is said to be worth $1.3 billion (R21.6 billion).

The 43-year-old, also known as Yeezus, tops the list followed by some of the most world renowned celebrities in the world including tennis great Roger Federer, football champions Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and the newest industry billionaire, Tyler Perry.

The College Dropout

Kanye made his debut into the music industry as a producer for one of the best record labels in the world, Roc-A-Fella Records during the early 2000’s. He then had a rebirth as a rapper in 2004, releasing the timeless album, The College Dropout.

Kanye moved on to create his own record label, GOOD Music following the success of his first offering as a solo artist.

Good Music

Some of these include Graduation in 2008, Yeezus in 2013, Life of Pablo in 2016 and finally, Jesus Is King in 2019 amongst many others. West also worked with Def Jam Records for some of his projects and has established his career in different parts of the industry.

Controversial Ye

He’s shown the world a lot of different sides. There’s the husband and father Ye who’s married to Kim Kardashian and has four children, musical genius Ye, business mogul Ye and spiritual Ye, just to name a few.

But even with all those titles, he’s always in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Over the years, Kanye has been trending for different things, including his running for president, his outspoken views about certain issues including his political standing, and his music – the “scoop de whoop”.

Most recently, Ye was campaigning for the 2020 USA elections, but dropped out after a few rallies.

Kanye then bagged a deal with Adidas for a shoe collaboration, which would become a global hit, securing him a long-term deal with the brand.
