Very few of the mommies have walked out of the first season as friends.

We are in for a treat this week. Not one but two additional episodes have been added to The Mommy Club sequel.

The Joburg IT mommies have returned under one roof for the reunion of the first season.

Saying it was much anticipated is an understatement and the reason why this was, unravels as soon as the ladies settle into their seats, and one is missing.

Tshego, also known as Ms Manche is missing in action and it’s not by mistake or coincidence.

Addressing her absence, the host – Thembisa Mdoda tells the four ladies that Ms Manche declined to be a part of the reunion and even sending a short video clip to say her part.

The ladies regard this though as her “not finishing what she started”.

In as much as this may be true, it wasn’t at all surprising.

Throughout the first season, Ms Manche tried to stay neutral in the group’s interactions. In fact, she tried as much as possible to stay away from conflict and spoke about how she is not interested in drama within friendships.

“Don’t involve me in any drama, the only drama I give is in my outfits,” she says.

As soon as the bombs start dropping, Ratile reiterates her refusal to call Happy Simelane ‘Her Majesty’ because it insinuates that she is above her.

Never mind that no one else had a problem with just calling Happy by her nickname, Ratile’s stance is weird because what happens when she meets someone whose real name is Queen? She will refuse to call her by that because she doesn’t want to feel like a peasant.

A queen is never threatened by another queen’s prowess or rank when they are secure in their own.

It could also be that she really prefers naming people by what she sees fit though because she then called Happy ‘a clout chaser’ in the first season as she claims that Happy blasts out her own laundry on social media just to trend.

It doesn’t stop at that though, she also calls Mrs Mops a hyena for always wanting to stir the pot among the ladies.

This, in reference to the scene where Mrs Mops lets Her Majesty in on what Rati calls her and going on to bring it up on the dinner table at her place where she hosted the ladies with her actress friend, Omuhle Gela.

Speaking of Omuhle, it was on this very same dinner table that she suggested that there are no satellites in Bulawayo, where Nunurai originates from.

This not only drove a wedge in the group, dividing the ladies into two separate camps, it also set the social media streets abuzz.

Although it was only addressed in the second part of the reunion, it contributed greatly to how the ladies fell out with each other.

With her chest, Happy called Rati ‘a total witch’ for wishing death upon her.

“Whether Happy lives or dies doesn’t affect me at all. It doesn’t change the price of bread,” Rati said in a diary session in one of the episodes.

For people who entered the club as supposed friends, Happy and Ratile have been on each other’s necks.

Admitting that she was acting in the season, Ratile also says that it didn’t mean that she was fake but rather that she was intentional in portraying who she is to the world.

In this, she has managed to speak about what she read in Happy’s diary/journal, something that many would agree is meant to be private.

However, Happy says she doesn’t care if Ratile shares the details of what’s referred to as “incriminating evidence”.

Clapping back, the mother of three reveals that she actually has more incriminating evidence on her. In fact, “an entire library” just before the first part of the reunion ends, leaving it on a cliffhanger.

Kicking the second part off, she refuses to open the library and lay the files bare because she is not the kind of person to do so but let’s out that it will all come to light in the second season.

Even after their riff raff, Ratile proceeds to apologise for all the mean things she uttered to and about Happy.

Instead of accepting the apology and keeping it moving as Nunurai expected, Happy just says that they will work on their friendship.

This doesn’t sit well with Nunurai.

She interjects and comes for Ratile for always apologising to people who are not meeting her halfway.

The Zimbabwean-born reality TV star stands up for Ratile against Mrs Mops and Happy for pointing out her mistakes and not acknowledging theirs enough to apologise to Ratile for the things they said themselves.

At some point in the season, Ratile was sidelined and excluded from the group’s meetings and dates.

Although it might have hurt her, she played it cool but only ironed things out with Ms Manche.

After Tshego called her a snake for snooping around her business with an ex-friend, Kefilwe Mabote, the two ley bygones be bygones. But seemingly, the can of worms wasn’t completely sealed because Ratile found herself going on a rant about how Tshego ridiculed her family home and even walked out on set.

What is a reunion without a tear and someone storming out though?

If there’s one thing that will not happen on Nunurai’s watch, it is bullying because after fetching Ratile backstage, she refused to apologise to Happy because of her mentality. By virtue of having called her a python after her business launch, attended by her friend who had flown out from Zimbabwe to allegedly strip off the matter of Bulawayo lacking satellites, Nunurai kept her apology to herself till the very end.

According to her, she doesn’t want Happy to be a liar, so she wants to stay true to her brand as the python that she is labelled to be.
