It's been two years of virtual events and that's all over now. And one of the first events to kick off after SA ditched most of its Covid-19 regulations was the DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards, which returned after a two-year hiatus.
Hosted by the multi-talented Lawrence Maleka at the Sun Arena in Tshwane, the live broadcast saw stars put on their glad rags for the blue carpet.
Honoured for his immeasurable contribution to the film and theatre industry, South African iconic storyteller, veteran actor, playwright, director and author Dr. John Kani received the Legend Award and raised the audience on their feet as he gave a rousing and inspiring acceptance speech.

The likes of Boity Thulo, Mpho Wabadimo, PH, Tbo-Touch, Thembabroly, Khutso Theledi, and Presley Chweneyagae were guest presenters who brought good humour to the sophisticated evening.
Sponsored by Telkom and Kia, alongside Tanqueray gin, the show-produced stage was set alight by performances by Kamo Mphela, Tuks Senganga, Nomfundo Moh and Zakes Bantwini.
Multichoice handed over the Enriching Lives award to Amantle Vikwani for his efforts as a community builder, a cash prize of R150 000 and a brand-new car from Kia, while Mohau Mmolawa received R 50 000 for his nomination.
