It's something that can be a little hard to admit for some in the Christian community - mental illness cannot be prayed away.

Fortunately, social media has helped people to be more vocal about a lot of things and has also allowed others to be exposed to more than they would in their everyday life – including frank conversations about the limitations of faith and spirituality when it comes to healing things like depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Counselling psychologist Mandisa Ndabula says often pastors have difficulty saying they cannot solve people’s problems. “I think they do not recognize depression as the illness that it is and so they go beyond their boundaries as pastors.
