“We have been in a serious relationship and have committed to each other, now will you marry me or should I leave?”

That is the ultimate Ultimatum.

The countdown is officially over as South Africa’s The Ultimatum spin-off finally drops, just in time for the weekend.

All mjolo lovers are bound to be glued to their screens.

Globally, the US show is known as “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move on” and is hosted by celebrity couple, Nick and Vanessa Lachey.

Now that it has hit Mzansi shores, it follows a testing chapter in six couples’ relationship to ask the million-dollar question; do we marry or do we move on?

Hosted by South African power couple, Salamina Mosese and Howza Mosese, the nine-part series sees six couples undergo a test of trust, true love, desire and honesty.

To make the cut, the show requires one partner ready for marriage to issue an ultimatum to their partner who’s wary of taking a trip down the aisle and saying, “I do”.

The Ultimatum South Africa hosts Salamina Mosese and Howza Mosese provide pearls of wisdom on marriage and dating to couples.

During the social experiment, the six couples break up, date their co-stars and finally choose one person to enter into a trial marriage with, putting their love lives through the wringer as new relationships form and old relationships hang on by a thread. Once the trial marriage is completed, couples enter into a second trial marriage with their original partner where they have to decide if they’re in it for the long haul or if they want an out.

Here are the six couples on the show.

Thabi and Genesis

They’ve been in a relationship for seven years and now Thabi has reached a breaking point and has given Genesis an ultimatum. In the trailer, Thabi confesses that after all this time, she could finally envision a future without Thabi by her side and this has marked a turning point in their relationship.

Going into the show with this realisation, the two have been forced to confront the possibility of a life apart.

However, Thabi admits that if Genesis were to choose to leave the show with another contestant, her heart would be shattered.

Khanya and Nkateko

After a year of being in a relationship, Khanya and Nkateko find themselves at a crossroads. Khanya has made it clear to Nkateko that she wants marriage committal. In the trailer, she shares her desire for loyalty, honesty, and consistency from her partner.

"I'm literally telling him, ‘Marry me now. I don't have time. I just want loyalty, honesty and consistency’."

Ruth and Isaac

It has been two years since they decided to be together and now Ruth has taken charged, filing for an ultimatum.

Isaac shares that he’s unsure of what the future holds and shared.

"I'm feeling all types of emotions because I don't know what to expect,” says Isaac.

Lebo and Nolla

For a year and a half, the lovebirds have been smitten with each other and now Lebo is ready to take the relationship to the next level.

Nolla expresses that in order for her to overcome her insecurities, Lebo would need to make some changes.

"For me to stop being insecure, he needs to change."

Courtney and Aiden

Courtney has filed for an ultimatum after seven years of their serious relationship, now they are faced with a crucial decision.

Out of vulnerability in the trailer, Courtney admits to questioning whether their feelings for each other are rooted in love or mere lust after all this time together.

Sizakele and Lindile

The pair hold the record of being together for the shortest duration in the first season of the South African spin-off. They have only been dating for a mere six months, yet Lindile has already given Sizakele an ultimatum.

During their conversation in the trailer, Lindile hints at uncertainty.

"I'm not sure, baby," prompting Sizakele to request they refrain from using pet names. He said, "Can we refrain from calling each other baby?" This request caused Lindile to abruptly end the conversation, get up, and leave the room.

"I'm feeling all types of emotions because I don't know what to expect."

The question now is, will the couples leave engaged, single, or with a new love?
