SUNREADERS, there is a new way to enjoy a WhatsApp status.
The status feature is a popular way to share short-lived updates with close contacts on WhatsApp.
Status updates disappear in 24 hours and may include photos, videos, GIFs, text and more.
On Tuesday, 7 February, Meta which is the parent company of WhatsApp announced that it was rolling out new features to boost the users-experience of the existing status update feature.
The new status update features include:
- Private Audience Selector
Meta is introducing a new flexibility feature to help you update your privacy settings per status so you can choose who views your status each time you update it.
This means that your most recent audience selection will be saved and used as the default for your next status.
- Voice Status
As reported in the past two months, WhatsApp is introducing game-changer updates to the voice feature.
The new status update will see users have the ability to record and share voice messages for up to 30 seconds on WhatsApp status.
- Status Reactions
Emoticon reactions were recently rolled out on the status update and will be getting an improved feature.
Users will soon get status reactions to provide a way to respond to status updates from their friends and close contacts.
“This was the #1 feature users wanted, following the launch of Reactions last year,” Meta said in a statement.
- Status profile rings for new Updates
This update will act as an alert so that you never miss a status from your close contacts.
This ring will be present around your contact’s profile picture whenever they share a status update.
The ring will reportedly be visible in the chat lists, group participant lists, and contact info.
- Link previews on status
Now when you post a link on your status, you’ll automatically see a visual preview of the link content, just like when you send a message.
“These updates have started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. We look forward to people enjoying these new status features soon,” Meta added.
