NEW trends in technology disappear quickly due to a lack of popularity and consistency.

But for mobile apps which have enormous support in the world, this is a different story.

According to a recent report by Data Ai, in the first quarter of 2022, 11% more apps were installed than compared to the same period in 2021.

It is further reported that a total of 37 billion apps were installed through the Google Play Store and Apple Store in the first three months of 2022.

Now that we’ve covered those fascinating stats when it comes to app downloads, let us take a look at popular apps worldwide this year.

According to Design Developer, the top five trending apps this year are:

  • TikTok

TikTok was first released in China in September 2006 and got massive worldwide popularity in 2019 during the coronavirus pandemic. The app has been downloaded 3,5 billion times worldwide and has over 1 billion monthly users.

  • Instagram

Surprisingly, the Meta-owned social media app comes out top compared to others which are popular on the market. The site boasts 1,4 billion monthly users. This is because it makes it easy to connect with others by sharing photos and videos.

  • Facebook

Facebook has gone through many changes since its launch in 2004 and is still among the most popular apps in the world.

According to Global Data, the consistent app recorded nearly 2,9 billion monthly active users as of March 2022.

  • WhatsApp

The messaging app consistently introduces new features to give users a quality experience.

The app has a user-friendly interface, great design and versatile features. WhatsApp has a whopping 20 billion monthly active users.

  • Telegram

Telegram usually trends when WhatsApp is down or experiencing technical issues.

The messaging app allows its 700 million monthly active users to have access to encryption tools and stickers that make their messages look nice.

With that said, it is without a doubt that the mentioned apps have kept their level of popularity for some time now, so check them out.
