UPDATE: CAPITEC back online

CAPITEC bank has apologised for the inconvenience caused after their banking app, USSD and internet banking went offline for the past two days.

"We’re really sorry for letting you down. It's not the level of service we aim to deliver and assure you that we're working hard to do better. Thank you to our clients for your patience, and to our team for their efforts for resolving the issue.

"All channels are now working," the bank said in a statement.

AS REPORTED ON FRIDAY, 5 AUGUST

CAPITEC clients are fuming across Mzansi as its banking services are down.

Since Thursday, 4 August, customers have been unable to use the banking app, USSD and internet banking.

And on Friday morning, the bank issued an update on its social media platforms, stating that it was facing an infrastructure problem in the central servers that supported its banking channels.

“We realise this is a terrible experience for our clients and apologise for the inconvenience if you have tried to make use of our banking app, USSD and internet banking in the last 24 hours.

“We are absolutely committed to resolving this as soon as possible and have a team of technology experts correcting the problem,” read the statement.
