EVEN before the first SUVs have been delivered to customers in Europe, the all-new fully electric Jeep Avenger has attracted more media recognition by being named Best Family SUV in the 2023 Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY) awards.

The compact B-SUV was shortlisted with 12 other family SUVs in the 13th edition of the awards, with the winner being decided by an international panel of judges from 45 countries.

Announcing the award, WWCOTY executive president Marta García said: “The Jeep Avenger is a worthy winner in its category. On the one hand, it inherits all the legend of the Jeep brand, but at the same time it is completely updated with its 100 percent electric mechanics. It is a commitment to the future that customers will appreciate.”

Women’s World Car of the Year is the only car awards group in the world comprised exclusively of women motoring journalists. Vehicles in the WWCOTY awards are judged for excellence in their segments. Aspects such as safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits and environmental footprint are taken into account by jurors when casting their votes.

This year, the judges’ work has been marked by an industry evolution towards more efficient and sustainable models. The Avenger impressed judges with its “successful design, excellent off-road capability”, and low environmental footprint.

“We’re delighted and honoured that this international jury of motoring journalists has chosen the first-ever all electric Jeep SUV as the winner of this important award,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO.

“I’d like to thank the jurors for their recognition. The Jeep Avenger plays a key role in our global electrification strategy, as the brand moves towards becoming the world leader in zero-emission SUVs,” García said.

The new Avenger is a compact SUV which, at just four metres in length, is positioned in the rapidly growing B-SUV the second biggest European segment in terms of volume.

With an electric fuel range of up to 400km in the WLTP cycle and more than 550km in the city, a new electric power-train combines a unique 400-volt electric motor with 115 kilowatts and 260Nm of maximum torque and a new 54kWh battery.
