WHEN Bongani Mbonani graduated in 2016, he thought he would get a corporate job.

But he struggled for years with no success and ended up starting his own business.

The 28-year-old from block DD in Soshanguve, Tshwane, started a car wash called @Mzansi Car Wash.

He told Daily Sun: “Your mind is a magnet. If you think of blessings, you attract blessings and if you think of problems, you attract problems. Always cultivate good thoughts and always remain positive and optimistic. That is what I have always told myself.”

Bongani said he opened his business in September 2021 and it had become the most popular car wash in his kasi.

“People get great service. There is free Wi-Fi and people from all over Tshwane come here to wash their cars.” He said when he was done with a car, it looked brand new.

“I use sparkling water to wash the car and I use wash and wax shampoo. When I am done, the owners don’t recognise their cars,” he said. “I sell atchar and ice blocks so my customers can relax while waiting for their cars.” Bongani said he had been receiving a lot of positive feedback.

“It got so packed at the beginning that the police came here to patrol as they thought something illegal was going on,” he said.

Bongani said he employed four young people from his kasi.

“My little brother is in grade 10 and works with me on the weekends. He does all the bookkeeping. I’m teaching him how to manage the business,” he said.

“One of the employees is a graduate and the two others were unemployed, but they are now making a living,” he said.

Bongani said his dream was to expand his business across the country.
