THE FACTS
THABO Moshoeshoe from Free State said he has been a loyal client at Batho Batsho Bakopane (B3) funeral undertakers for more than 20 years.
His mum Felicia was the main member of the policy, which he, his gogo Czarina and his siblings are dependents on. In 2008, his gogo died and the policy paid. In 2021, his mother died and B3 agreed to bury her, provided he adds more money. It said prices increased due to Covid-19.
Then he nominated his brother as the main member. When his brother died, he submitted a claim but B3 has not paid.
THE SOLUTION
I spoke to B3 and Mduduzi Kutoane extended their apologies for how the claim was handled.
The reason the claim is yet to be settled is because there was no beneficiary appointed.
This requires a certified copy of the Letter of Authority. The person who will be appointed by the Master of the High Court will then submit claim forms and a certified identity copy.
