FORMER KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala came out on top when the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) was announced yesterday, 21 December.
NEC members were announced by former president Kgalema Motlanthe, chairman of the ANC Electoral Committee, at the Nasrec Convention Centre in Joburg.
Zikalala was followed by Mduduzi Manana, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, Mdumiseni Ntuli and Bheki Mtolo.
Zikalala and Ntuli were defeated by Siboniso Duma earlier this year at the KZN provincial conference.
Zweli Mkhize, who lost against President Cyril Ramaphosa in the race to become party president, came in at number 16.
Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who declined a nomination for the presidency from the floor on Sunday, 18 December, came in at number 33.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan did not make it to the 800-member NEC.
Derek Hanekom told Daily Sun on Sunday that he had been in the NEC for 28 years and it was time to give others a chance.
Motlanthe said there were 4 436 eligible voters and 4 029 cast their votes.
The top 11 spots were occupied by men while a few youth members were represented.
