CONTROVERSIAL former Ukhozi FM DJ Ngizwe Mchunu is confident that he will be able to prove his innocence in court.
He said this as his trial is expected to begin in the Randburg Magistrates Court in Gauteng today, 12 October.
He is accused of inciting violence during last year’s July unrest.
Ngizwe was arrested last year after he handed himself over to the police following his slogan “Azikhale”, which was interpreted as being meant to incite violence.

This was after former president Jacob Zuma was arrested.
During the July unrest, shops were looted, buildings were torched and lives were lost.
Ngizwe said he is ready for the trial and he will prove his innocence.
“I’m not scared. I’m ready because I’m innocent,” said Ngizwe.
He said his supporters must be strong.
“As a king of amabhinca, I say to all of them that they must be strong. I have nothing to hide. I’m not a criminal. I’m always telling the truth, so my supporters must not worry,” said Ngizwe.
