A WOMAN has been swept away by flash floods on Friday, 12 January.
EMS Aquatic team has been searching for her along the Jukskei River running through the Leeuwkop Prison in Sunninghill, Joburg.
The woman was allegedly swept away while driving in Sunninghill on Friday night, and the search started on Saturday morning, 13 January at 9am.
Xolile Khumalo, EMS media officer, said the EMS continues to urge residents to drive with extra caution during this rainy season.
"Please, ensure that you don't drive through a flooded road and avoid low-lying bridges and areas that are usually flooded during the rainy season," she said.

This incident comes just after two people drowned in Bramley, Joburg, on Wednesday 10 January, while two were rescued during a cleansing ceremony.
The EMS search and rescue team and police water wing responded to the incident and the bodies of the two women were later recovered.
It's alleged that a group of congregants were performing a cleansing ritual when four women were swept away by flash floods. Two women were rescued while two unfortunately drowned in the incident.
Meanwhile, Mzansi has been left shocked after a video of a man drowning at a beach went viral on social media.
In a circulating video, a man is seen jumping into the beach for a swim to impress his friends. The young man then swims until the waves sweep him.
The person recording the video can be heard saying: “Inesbindi le. Ungahambi phela, buya we phela yahamba manje loyana", which means, "You are brave, don't go, come back, you are going."
