WOMAN arrested for lying to the police!

AFTER an argument with her a boyfriend, a Gqeberha woman opened a case of hijacking against him.

According to police it is alleged that on Tuesday, 14 June 2022 at about 20:40, the woman claimed that her vehicle was hijacked from her as she was seated in her silver Kia Picanta in Lavinia Street in North End. 

The 36-year-old woman further alleged that two unknown men approached her, one pointed a firearm at her, forced her out of the vehicle and drove off with it.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said, “Minutes later, SAPS Mount Road members recovered the vehicle in the same street with a suspect inside. After he was detained on a charge of vehicle hijacking, investigations revealed that he was the boyfriend of the complainant and that they had an argument. After further questioning, the woman confessed to police that she had fabricated the story of been hijacked.”

The woman was arrested on Wednesday, 15 June 2022 and charged for defeating the ends of justice. She was released on a warning to appear in court on Friday.

Detectives released her boyfriend.
