SOCIAL media users are in shock after a video of naked women trying to block cops from arresting a suspect went viral.

The incident happened in the Rondomskrik area in Struis Bay, Western Cape on 23 December 2023.

The women and the suspect, who was suspected to have drugs in his possession, were arrested. The suspects, aged between 23 and 30, appeared in court on Friday, 5 January.

It's alleged that cops had gone to the house to arrest the suspect, who is believed to be the brother of the naked women in the video.

When cops arrived to arrest the man, the women blocked cops and tried to take their clothes off in the process.

At first, the video shows women wearing only their panties but at the end, they removed everything and one of them went on to flash her punani at the cop who was pressing the suspect down on the ground while arresting him.

Southern Cape police spokesman Sergeant Chris Spies said they are aware of the video circulating on social media platforms.

He confirmed the incident occurred on Saturday, 23 December 2023 at Rondomskrik in Swellendam.

“Reports available suggest that the members accosted a man with drugs in his possession following information received. Upon searching for the man, they came under attack. Subsequently, three women and a man aged between 23 and 30 were arrested.

“The provincial police management strongly condemns the conduct towards members of the police by those depicted in the video. Any attack on a member of the police is regarded as a serious offence and an attack on the state. This type of riotous and indecent behaviour towards police cannot be tolerated,” said Spies.

He confirmed that the suspects appeared in court on Friday, facing charges of defeating the course of justice, hindering a police official in the execution of duties, common assault and malicious damage to property.

The suspects were all remanded in custody, and the matter was postponed to Tuesday, 9 January.
